It is with deep sadness I have to let you know of the passing of Ms. Shirley Quick. Ms. Quick was among the original staff of the Collaborative in 1996. She was tireless in her devotion to families and children.
Ms. Quick would leave no stones unturned to find housing, food, and stability for persons and families who felt like no one cared. When others gave up, Ms. Quick stood up.
Her favorite sayings were: “I’m here to give you a hand up, not a hand out,” and “Thank you for allowing me to work with your family.”Her advocacy and demand for justice was unfailing.
Few politicians, business persons, and landlords could dare say “no” to Ms. Quick. She reminds us of the impact one person can make in the lives of so many, as she worked hard every day. Up until a day before her passing, she was making calls on behalf of her “children.”
May God Bless You Ms. Quick. We love you. And now, as Ecclesiastes 3:8 reminds us, “A Time for Peace.”
