The event was attended by many dignitaries, city officials, and community partners. Live music was provided by Inner Voices, a group which was initially formed in the Lorton prison facility in the 1970’s. The Star Spangled Banner was sung beautifully by Sonya Hayer-Williams and speeches were given by CSOSA Director Nancy Ware, District of Columbia Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, District of Columbia Councilwoman Anita Bonds, Superior Court Judge Milton C. Lee Jr, and Pastor Ronald Miles of Bethel Christian Fellowship. CSOSA Deputy Director James Berry gave final remarks and transitioned to the Ribbon-Cutting ceremony.
