On the evening of July 26, 2017, CSC Workforce Development Program Manager James LeBlanc joined the Washington Interfaith Network in Ward 7 at First Rock Baptist Church. The event was a city-wide action attended by Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, Department of Employment Services Director, Odie Donald, Workforce Investment Council Director, Diane Pabich, the Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizens Affairs Director, Brian Ferguson, Councilmember Vincent Gray, and a host of dignitaries, organizations, congregations, and returning citizens. Mr. LeBlanc was joined by recent CSC Progressive Employment graduate and newly employed returning citizen Kendall Robinson and Mr. Robinson’s girlfriend, Jean.
The attendees were supporting a movement in which 5,000 jobs for Washington DC returning citizens are being asked for over the next five years. These jobs are to be in different sectors including DC Government, Hospitality, Transportation, and Construction. Other issues discussed were Immigration Rights, Community Safety, and Affordable Housing. It was a fantastic evening of fellowship, passionate speeches, networking, and hope that Collaborative Solutions for Communities was honored to be a part of.
